Taylor North More

]]>

Natural deodorants are a great solution for people who want to avoid complicated ingredients in antiperspirants as well as for those with sensitive skin. But no matter how carefully you’ve selected your natural deodorant, there’s something you should know… Any deodorant can claim to be “clean” and still contain ingredients that are not. We’ll tell you why that is, and how you can ensure you’re actually using a clean natural deodorant.

The truth about deodorant regulations

The law does not require the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to regulate ingredients in deodorants and other cosmetic products. In fact, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) reports there are more rules governing the chemicals we put on our crops today than there are on the chemicals we put on our bodies!

This is because The Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act of 1938 only gave the government the ability to regulate cosmetics considered “poisonous.” Since then, only about nine ingredients have been banned for safety reasons in the US. To give the FDA greater legal authority to regulate ingredients in deodorants and cosmetics would require Congress to change the law for the first time in 83 years.

Three years ago, an editorial in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) called for just that. This group of medical professionals asked for greater regulation of personal care products, including deodorants, and new safety policies that would give the FDA more authority to review and recall products. Over the last 18 months, two separate personal care product safety acts have been introduced in Congress, but neither has been approved or signed into law at the time of this writing.

So, how can you be sure your natural deodorant is really clean? You’ve got to become a product sleuth, and the first clue is on the label…

1. Research your ingredients: Read product labels to ensure your natural deodorant contains no aluminum (commonly found in antiperspirant, it works to form a plug in your sweat ducts to prevent sweating), parabens, phthalates (both of which are used as artificial preservatives). You may not recognize all the ingredients on the label, and that’s okay!

The EWG Skin Deep Database is a great resource to investigate ingredients you’ve never heard of before. In the database you’ll discover where the ingredient comes from as well as its safety profile, which is based on the latest scientific research.

2. Choose ingredients that are gentle on sensitive skin: Ever tried a natural deodorant only to find you experience irritation? Underarm skin is thinner and more likely to become irritated from harsh ingredients-- even natural ones such as baking soda. Baking soda is very alkaline, and can raise the pH of the skin very quickly, causing irritation in some people. That’s why it’s important to check deodorant labels for baking soda, often labeled “sodium bicarbonate".

What’s the alternative? Look for products that rely on Dead Sea minerals and antioxidant salts that naturally control odor and reduce the bacteria that cause odor, without interrupting your body’s natural process of sweating. Another gentle, natural ingredient is tapioca starch, which helps absorb wetness on top of the skin without causing irritation. Bonus points if you find a deodorant that also contains natural skin moisturizers like coconut oils.

3. Avoid labels that say fragrance: Many natural products use synthetic fragrances that show up on deodorant labels as “parfum”, “fragrance”, or even “natural fragrances”. There are over 3,000+ ingredients that could be used to make up “fragrance”, many of which are parabens and phthalates or contain animal matter. To ensure the fragrance used in a product is transparent, look for a complete list of essential oils (rather than “parfum”, “fragrance” or “natural fragrance”) on the ingredient label. Not only will your deodorant smell better, but you’ll know what you’re putting on your body.

4. Look for brands that are cruelty-free and vegan: Even natural deodorants still use animal byproducts, such as beeswax. They also perform animal testing to ensure the safety of their products. If this is important to you, look for brands that say “cruelty-free” and “vegan” on their labels.

5. Understand the Each & Every difference: Each & Every Natural Deodorant is designed with sustainability and sensitive skin in mind. It’s made without complicated or harsh ingredients and is scented with 100% essential oils. All ingredients are sustainably sourced, including the packaging, which is made from sugar cane.

Each & Every natural deodorant meets every standard listed above, plus it’s one of a select few brands to be EWG verified. This means it’s free of the EWG’s chemicals of concern and meets their strictest standards for health from ingredient selection to manufacturing standards. Best of all, Each & Every deodorant has a smooth, creamy feel. It’s easy to apply, goes on clear and leaves no marks or stains on your clothing.

]]>

Are you thinking of making the switch to a shampoo bar? You’re not alone! As many of us are trying to make more eco-friendly product choices, more people are ditching their liquid shampoos and using shampoo bars.

If you’re considering making the switch, here’s what you need to know to get the very best results.

Why shampoo bars?

There are a myriad of reasons to use shampoo bar, which you can read more about here. But the most common reasons people use shampoo bars are for their sustainability benefits, convenience and clean formulas.

Liquid shampoos are filled with chemicals such as sulfates that often remain on your hair even after you’ve rinsed the lather away. These chemicals can weigh down your strands and rob hair of natural shine, softness and volume.

What happens when you switch to a shampoo bar?

Most shampoo bars have clean formulas that don’t contain sulfates or other cleansing agents typically found in traditional shampoos. If you’re switching to a shampoo bar — or any sulfate free, “clean” formula — you may find that there’s a bit of an adjustment period. During this time many people report a range of experiences from their hair feeling more oily / greasy, waxy, frizzy, and / or dry. And some people report no adjustment at all. If you do experience a change in your scalp or hair, we recommend giving your hair some time to adjust — think of it as pushing the “reset button” on your hair.

Another cause of change in hair appearance or texture can be due to user error. If you’re using a cleaner, sulfate-free formula, it’s important to thoroughly wet the hair and completely rinse all product off. You may also find that you need much less product than a conventional, drug store shampoo. You can find more tips here.

How long does it take for your hair to adjust?

Most people report that their hair takes anywhere from a couple weeks to about a month to adjust.

Do shampoo bars work on all types of hair?

Yes, in general a shampoo bar is suitable for all hair types. Each & Every shampoo bars are also safe for color and chemically-treated hair.

How often should I use a shampoo bar?

Shampoo bars work best for regular use to remove daily grime. How often you wash depends on your hair and scalp — and what works best for you! For periodic removal of strong build-up and grease, it may be helpful to occasionally use a clarifying shampoo.

Tips for getting through the transition period and coming out the other side with fantastic hair:

?We asked some of our shampoo bar VIPs what tips they have for getting through the transition period. Here’s what they had to say:

?1. Shampoo bar washing technique makes all of the difference. The way you wash your hair with a shampoo bar is different than with a liquid shampoo. First, start by getting your hair very wet and ensure the water has soaked all the way down to the roots. Instead of running the shampoo bar directly over your hair, use your hands to create lather then transfer the lather to wash your hair.

For most shampoo bar users, massaging the lather into the scalp is all that’s needed—even if you have long hair. Many users report their best results happen when they allow the lather to drip down over the length of their hair, instead of rubbing it from scalp to ends.

2. Rinse, rinse and rinse again! Unlike liquid shampoos, shampoo bars require a longer rinsing period to ensure you’ve got clean hair. This is because shampoo bars often contain natural oils, such as Argan and Avocado oil, to cleanse the hair; you want to ensure that all product is rinsed from your hair to avoid feeling a waxy build-up or oily scalp.

3. What about conditioner? This is a personal preference! Many of our customers prefer to follow up with their favorite clean, plant-based conditioner to get a soft, silkier feel. But whether or not you use conditioner is up to you!

4. Want even better results? You might need an extra step or two to ensure that you’re removing any chemical build-up from synthetic shampoos and styling products or simply to remove any excess oil from your scalp and hair. Consider trying an apple cider vinegar post-shampoo rinse. Dilute one to four tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (make sure it’s ACV with “the mother”) with water then squirt some on your hair following a wash. Experiment with how frequently you use the apple cider vinegar rinse. Make note when your hair feels the cleanest and silkiest so you can develop the best schedule for your hair.

5. Can I use styling products? Absolutely! We do recommend ensuring your styling products have clean, plant-based formulas if possible, but styling products such as gel, curl crème, mousse and sprays can help give your hair definition, a soft texture, and reduce frizz.

6. Your water matters. The type of water you have running from your shower may be heavily chlorinated and fluoridated, heavily mineralized (hard water) or lacking in minerals (soft water). The type of water you have can change your natural shampoo bar results. In general, heavily treated water and hard water can leave hair with residue. If you think this is happening to you, a post-shampoo apple cider vinegar rinse can help remove build up and give your hair softer texture.

7. All hair is different. Finally, keep in mind that natural shampoo bar success is about listening to your body, paying attention to its signals and adjusting your beauty routine accordingly. When you find the best shampoo bar routine for you, you’ll be thrilled with your hair’s luster, softness and volume.

]]>

It's been a big year for hand sanitizer! What was previously an occasional use product quickly became a germ killing hero as the pandemic spread across the globe. As it became out of stock in stores, many people started to make their own leading to an explosion of information about alcohol levels, CDC recommendations, and even ingredients to watch out for.

Below are 5 things to keep in mind if you're in the market for hand sanitizer.

1. Hand Sanitizer is regulated by the FDA as an over the counter drug.? This means that there are strict standards that products must adhere to for ensuring they are safe to use. This includes ingredient regulations and label and expiration date requirements. It is not recommended to make hand sanitizer yourself as it could be ineffective and potentially dangerous.

2. All hand sanitizers are designed to do the same job but they are not created equally.? All hand sanitizers are designed to kill germs but not all of them use the same ingredients. The CDC recommends at least 60% alcohol for effective germ kill so make sure you see the alcohol % listed on the label. Other ingredients can be confusing and ingredient lists can be lengthy, so do your research to understand what the chemical names mean so that you know what you're putting on your body.

3. Watch out for methanol. ? The FDA has warned against using hand sanitizers with methanol, or wood alcohol, because it is a dangerous and potentially toxic substance, particularly when absorbed through skin. The FDA also requires methanol testing but not all companies are compliant. It is often not listed on the label so the best way to ensure you are not using a hand sanitizer with methanol is to check this list from the FDA of hand sanitizers to avoid. You can also check with the company you purchase from to ensure they have conducted methanol testing.

4. Hand Sanitizer is not a substitute for washing your hands. ? Washing your hands is still the most effective way to prevent the spread of infection but there are instances where access to soap and water is not possible. Hand Sanitizer is a great option to help with germ kill in those moments, but it will not cleanse your hands and should not be used as a substitute for hand washing. Think about hand sanitizer as a good on the go option!

5. Moisturize your hands after using hand sanitizer.? Many hand sanitizers include moisturizing ingredients but the alcohol can be drying on hands. It's best to use a moisturizer or lotion after use to ensure you keep hands hydrated. You can also consider using face masks on your hands for a deep treatment.

ABOUT OUR HAND SANITIZER

Each & Every recently launched a plant-based hand sanitizer full of good for you ingredients! The hand sanitizer uses alcohol from corn at 78% to ensure effective germ kill. It also includes only 3 additional ingredients: water, hydroxypropylcellulose (a thickening agent made from renewable wood pulp), and vegetable glycerin (a natural moisturizer from soybean, canola, and sunflower oils). It is methanol-free and meets FDA standards. It is also USP medical grade and EWG Verified, so it meets the strictest standards for both safety and efficacy!

]]>

If you want hair that’s beautifully clean, and you’d like to help clean up our environment, consider an alternative to liquid shampoo by making the switch to an all-natural shampoo bar.

A shampoo bar is a solid concentrated formula that lathers like a liquid shampoo and offers you (and Mother Earth) many unexpected benefits. Read below for six reasons to make the switch:

1. Environmentally smart and eco-friendly: Using a shampoo bar means less waste. Shampoo bars have a concentrated formula with little to no added water, and they are easier to store and transport since they are more lightweight. Recyclable packaging cuts out the need for bottles, so you can say goodbye to single-use plastic! Additionally, our shampoo bars use 90% less water than traditional shampoo, and they are certified as cruelty-free and vegan.

2. Ultra-concentrated formula is a better value: Did you know that liquid shampoos are as much as 80% water? Our shampoo bars are ultra-concentrated and will last longer than liquid shampoos. One bar is equivalent to two bottles of traditional shampoo, so you’ll be able to cut down on spending and trips to the store.

3. Convenient, “no mess,” & easy to use: Shampoo bars are smaller than traditional liquid shampoo, which makes them easier to use and store. You don’t have to worry about spills or leaking, either. All you need to do is wet the bar, lather in your hands, and massage into your hair and scalp. That’s it!

4. Clean Ingredients = Clean Hair: Many traditional shampoos contain ingredients like sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, synthetic dyes or synthetic fragrance. Our shampoo bars are made with worry-free ingredients that are gentle to your hair and scalp. They are scented with essential oils and packed with nourishing ingredients like Shea Butter, Argan Oil, and Avocado Oil to give you gorgeous hair.

5. Travel friendly, especially with TSA limits: When traveling becomes the norm again, shampoo bars are the way to go. You can easily pack them in a suitcase or carry-on bag with no worry of exceeding the 3.4 liquid ounces limit. Oh, and can we say no worries of spills or leaking again?

6. Great for multi-use: Although shampoo bars are intended for hair, they can also be used as a safe option for a hand or body soap bar.

If you’re ready to make the switch, you can shop our Worry-Free Shampoo Bar below. We hope you love it as much as we do, but if not, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Switching to a shampoo bar provides many benefits to both your hair and the environment. Each bar is highly concentrated, using the same amount of cleanser as 2 plastic shampoo bottles, without the excess water. With that said, the in shower experience can be a bit different when you're getting started.

Here are tips on how you can get the best experience:

  1. Lather the bar in your hands and transfer the suds to you hair. Don't rub directly onto your hair, as it will deposit the oil directly onto your strands, which will make it more difficult to rinse.
  2. Massage into your hair and scalp, making sure to address any hard to reach areas.
  3. Rinse, rinse and rinse again! Rinsing is an important key to a great experience so that the oil deposits aren't left on your hair.
  4. Follow up with your preferred conditioner if you prefer a softer texture.
  5. Store your shampoo bar away from water once finished.

Please note if you're not used to using a sulfate-free shampoo, it may take a couple weeks for both you and your hair to transition to the new experience.

There’s just something about being in the kitchen that seems therapeutic during these times. Cooking and baking brings a sense of accomplishment and food is the ultimate comfort. We have been upping our food game during quarantine and thought it might be fun to share some of our favorite recipes.

Easy Everything Bagels
These bagels are simple, easy, and delicious. I am admittedly a bit of a bagel snob (nothing like a New York bagel!) so I was apprehensive about these. But I was blown away by how delicious these turned out to be. The texture is perfect - crispy and crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I made Everything bagels because I had Everything seasoning on hand, but these could easily be Sesame or Onion or any combination of herbs and spices you have on hand. Get the Recipe

Honey-Sweetened Almond Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
This granola is a great alternative to the store-bought stuff. It’s quick and easy to make, plus it’s healthy! One batch lasts the whole week for 2 people, and it’s great to have for breakfast or as a snack throughout the day. The chocolate chips add the perfect amount of sweetness, while the almonds and peanut butter perfectly balance out the flavors. The best part about granola? If you don’t have all the ingredients on hand, don’t worry! There are plenty of substitutes you can use to make something delicious. I leave out the cinnamon as I’ve found it to be overpowering. Overnight Cinnamon Rolls
I love everything I’ve ever made from Sally’s Baking Addiction! And these overnight cinnamon rolls are no exception. This was my first attempt at cinnamon rolls, and this recipe was easy to follow and very thorough. The end result was dynamite fluffy, buttery, soft and delicious cinnamon rolls that were a perfect weekend breakfast! Pro tip: plan ahead with this one. Total rise time is a minimum of 10 hours (and you don’t want to stretch it beyond 12 hours rise time or they’ll be over proofed), so unless you want to be finishing them up at 1 a.m. like I was, plan it out so that you can pop them in the oven first thing in the morning. ]]>

For the vast majority of Americans, our lives have drastically changed over the past month. While this has been an incredibly challenging time, it’s also brought out a lot of positivity, creativity and ingenuity. People are taking the time to cherish long walks, learn a new language, catch up on their binge watching wishlists, organize their homes, connect in new ways, and in general complete tasks they’ve been putting off.

If you have the means, it’s also a great time to check out new clean beauty products. Specifically, natural deodorant. If you haven’t switched to natural deodorant yet, you may or may not know that there can be an adjustment period, sometimes called a “detox” period.

During this time, many people report that they experience an increase in sweat and odor-causing bacteria (yikes!). The good news is that this is temporary and it doesn’t happen for everyone! A common misconception is that aluminum-free deodorants cause the adjustment period, when in reality, it’s more likely to be your body’s response to moving away from your old product. For some people, it can take a couple weeks for your body to completely wash out of aluminum plugs caused by antiperspirant. And because everyone’s body responds differently to that process, everyone has a slightly different experience during the adjustment period, including some that never experience it at all!

There has never been a better time to attempt the adjustment period than when you’re purposefully home self-isolating and maintaining at least a six-foot distance from your fellow humans.

If you’re willing to give it a shot, we have compiled some quotes and tips from some of our VIP customers to help you get through the adjustment period a little easier.

“My adjustment period was luckily only a week or so, but I found that wearing breathable, organic fabrics while switching - cotton, linen, etc. really helped to cut down on the odor.” – Alli

“It took me 2 weeks to detox. During this time, I applied 2x a day, at night and in the morning, to help get through the adjustment phase” - Alex

“Hang in there! It doesn't happen overnight. It takes your body awhile to detox.” - Lorissa

“Try different scents! I think that each person’s odor is individual, and certain scents cover certain odors better than others.” – Carly

“I use Natures Miracle to spray the pits of my tops/blouses/sweaters etc to help enzymatically break down odor and eliminate any residual odor." – Jennifer

“What you eat plays a big role in your body odor. Eat a diet rich in vegetables (particularly leafy greens) and fruit to help combat odor. Lots of water is also essential.” – Paul

“I applied a little Apple Cider Vinegar to my armpits after showering. Worked like a charm!”- Riley

]]>

Taking care of our physical, mental, and emotional health is more important than ever. Research shows that practicing self-care can reduce stress, calm the mind and restore a sense of calm. And we could all use a bit of that right now. Self-care doesn't have to be elaborate. It can be a series of small, deliberate steps that you take to prioritize your own needs and treat yourself.

Here are 10 ways to get started:

  1. Breathe - In through your nose, out through your mouth. Relax your shoulders. Deep, purposeful breaths.
  2. Pamper - Treat yourself to an hour of indulgence. Take a bath, light candles, find a quiet place.
  3. Connect - Call your family. Video call your loved ones. Check on your parents, children, and grandparents.
  4. Move - Move your body. Take a walk. Stream an online fitness class. Find ways to incorporate more steps into your day.
  5. Create - Learn a new skill. Create a piece of art or music. Get your creative juices flowing.
  6. Read - Let your mind escape into a new story. Immerse yourself in a new world with new characters.
  7. Dance - Get the music flowing and shake a lil' something. Shake it out. Shake it off.
  8. Rest - Be still. Let your body and your mind relax.
  9. Stretch - Loosen your muscles and improve flexibility by stretching your body. It can wake your muscles and relieve tension.
  10. Gratitude - intentionally weaving a gratitude habit into your daily schedule can do wonders for your mental health, even when times are hard. You can incorporate gratitude into your existing routine by mentally noting what you're thankful for during your morning shower or skin routine. You can also keep a gratitude journal to see the blessings pile up.

Show yourself love. You're doing great.

]]>

Let’s face it, while it is beneficial, practicing social isolation is also challenging. Many of us are so used to always being on-the-go, our routines have been disrupted and it’s easy to get bored.

Boredom happens for many reasons, including when you have energy but nowhere to direct it or when you’re feeling a lack of control. On top of that, being stressed (which is very likely during this time of uncertainty) increases adrenaline, giving you more energy without knowing where to direct it.

So, after you’ve finished binge watching your list of shows, what’s next? Our advice – take this time as an opportunity to focus on YOU. We’ve provided a list to get you started:

1. Concentrate on yourself. It’s easy to always focus on loved ones and friends. Take this time to think about what’s important to you and what you want to achieve. What steps can you take to ensure you meet your goals?

2. Make a list of what you’ve been procrastinating on. Now is the perfect time to get things done that have been on your to-do list for a while but you haven’t had time to do.

3. Practice mindfulness. Take the time to be in the moment, really think about what you’re doing, not just the end result. Try not to worry about the past or the future. For example, when cooking notice the smell, texture, and taste of each ingredient.

4. Ignite your creativity. Doing creative activities may reduce anxiety, stress and depression. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Color in a coloring book
  • Play a board game, or invent your own!
  • Sketch something
  • Write
  • Journal
  • Create your own online video content. Start a podcast or post a video to YouTube.
  • Have a dance party at home

5. Travel from the comfort of your own home. Get online and browse different countries, neighborhoods, learn about new cultures. Alternatively, take a virtual tour of a museum. Check out how to here. Share what you’ve learned with your friends and family.

6. Learn something new. You don’t have to leave the house to learn something new! Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Learn a new language. See if your friends want to learn at the same time, then call each other to practice.
  • Play an instrument. There are many online courses you can take to help you learn.
  • Photography. Learn how to use that camera that’s been sitting around the house, or even learn how to use your phone camera to its maximum effectiveness.

7. Turn your bathroom into a DIY spa. Get out those face masks, bubble bath, lotions and nail polishes that have been sitting around unused since the holidays. Turn on some relaxing music and treat yourself!

8. Start a new daily routine. Check these to-dos off your list each day to feel accomplished:

  • Exercise
  • Read a chapter of a book
  • Listen to a new podcast or watch a new show
  • Call a friend to see how they are doing
  • Clean up your space
  • Walk the dog

9. Be okay with having downtime. It’s okay to sit with your thoughts and just breathe. When you take a moment to let your mind wander you are likely to come up with creative ideas you can act upon.

]]>

I’ve been working from home with my toddler for over a week now and after a bumpy start, I think we’re finally hitting a rhythm. Since last week, I have scoured the internet, FaceTimed with my daughter’s teachers and talked to several friends – all resulting in a wealth of ideas on how to keep my toddler busy and stimulated throughout the day. I’ve compiled some of my favorites below:

1) Bake and cook together
My daughter loves helping us cook and bake treats. At dinner time, we try to engage her in the activity as much as possible – whether it’s adding spices, cutting a cucumber or banana (with child friendly knives), or helping to mix ingredients.

2) Science experiments
We’ve done daily science experiments this week which have been a big hit. There are several age appropriate options you can find on Google or Pinterest. Some of our favorites have been:

  • How soap kills germs experiment (Instructions here)
  • Baking soda and vinegar demonstrations (Instructions here)
  • Dissolve egg shells in vinegar (Instructions here)
  • Rainbow celery experiment to show how plants absorb water (Instructions here)
  • Non-Newtonian fluid experiment (Instructions here)

3) Baby washing
This is one that they do at my daughter’s school. It’s extremely popular with the 2 year old and preschool classes and will actually keep my daughter engaged for more than 20 minutes. It’s also a great role playing activity that teaches them practical life skills. To do this, take a shallow tub (or you can use your bathroom sink and a stool) and fill it with water and bubble bath or dish soap and give your child a wash cloth and a baby doll. Ask them to wash the baby’s hair and clean them, and then dry and dress them once they’re finished with washing.

4) Sensory bins
Take a large storage container or food storage container and fill it with a fun sensory filler like rice, beans, shredded paper, seeds, etc. Then, fill it with anything and everything, give the kids some shovels and spoons and let them excavate!

5) Gardening
My toddler has loved watering plants every morning with me (even though we’ve had several inches of rain this week!). If you have a watering can and gardening tools, that’s great – but you can also improvise with a measuring cup or pitcher (for the watering can).

If you have flowers in your garden, flower arranging is also one of my daughter’s favorite activities!

6) Make your own play doh and / or slime
This is a classic, but it’s a ton of tun. You can find play doh and slime recipes all over the internet, but my favorite easy play doh recipe is here (it is one of the few that doesn’t require cream of tartar) and my favorite slime recipe is here. I also didn’t have food coloring, but used some old mashed and strained raspberries and it worked great!

7) Have a picnic
Get a blanket, some snacks and drinks and have a picnic inside or outside in your yard or on a patio. It’s a fun way to spice up meal!

8) Scavenger and treasure hunts
Plan an indoor scavenger or treasure hunt for a fun and easy activity that will keep your little one(s) occupied.

9) Get Active
While parks and play gyms may be off limits, there are still tons of ways to get active. Get your kiddos out for a walk, play a game of Simon Says, throw a dance party or pull up Cosmic Kids Yoga and have a fun yoga adventure.

10) Educational Apps
A little screen time isn’t going to hurt your kids during this time, and there are tons of great apps that help make screen time educational. If you have a toddler age child, I’d strongly recommend ABC Animal Toddler Adventures and Preschool & Kindergarten Games.

This is a unique time for all of us, and we hope some of these ideas help you get through the day a bit easier. Please share any other activities or ideas you have in the comments!

]]>

We hear from parents all the time who want their teenager to use an aluminum-free deodorant, but they are worried it won’t provide enough protection for an active teenager who is always on-the-go.

Natural deodorant and clean ingredients can be a confusing topic to navigate, therefore we’ve collected the most common questions we receive from parents of teenagers so you can feel educated and confident in your decision for your teen to ‘go natural’:

1. Should my teen use antiperspirant or deodorant? These terms are often used interchangeably, but there are differences you may want to consider before purchasing one or the other for your teen. Antiperspirants work to reduce both sweat and odor from your underarms by aluminum plugging the sweat duct. On the other hand, deodorants help to reduce only odor by helping to reduce odor-causing bacteria on top of the skin.

While antiperspirant is effective at stopping sweat, parents are often concerned about potentially harmful side effects from aluminum and other ingredients used in antiperspirants. Therefore, you may want to consider a natural deodorant like Each & Every that is aluminum-free, paraben-free, free of baking soda, and contains no synthetic fragrance.

2. My teen sweats, a lot! So natural deodorants won’t stop his/her sweat? Sweat is good! It cools the body, hydrates skin, and can protect you from infection. However, we know it can be embarrassing, especially for a teen, to experience sweating. Deodorants do contain absorbent ingredients to keep your teen feeling dry, such as activated charcoal powder, arrowroot and baking soda, mineral salts, and more.

Each & Every uses tapioca starch to help keep you feeling dry, so your teen can be worry-free!

3. My teen has sensitive skin, are all natural deodorants designed for sensitive skin? Natural deodorants all contain different ingredients so it’s important to read the label to understand what’s included. If your teen has sensitive skin you may want to avoid deodorants with baking soda. Baking soda can cause skin irritation due to the acidity of your skin combined with the alkaline nature of baking soda.

We decided to avoid baking soda when designing Each & Every. We’re proud that we created a formula with safe, gentle ingredients that have staying power. We also have a fragrance free option for those who are sensitive to fragrance.

4. My teen is very active, will a natural deodorant cover up his/her stink? Natural deodorants do help to reduce odor. Many natural deodorants use baking soda to do so, which as explained above, may also cause irritation.

Each & Every uses magnesium hydroxide (dead sea salt), which works very similarly to baking soda, creating a high pH environment that is hostile for bacteria growth. The great thing about dead sea salt is that it is not as water soluble, so when your teen sweats it slowly changes the pH of the skin to give it time to adjust and not get irritated. It also then lasts a lot longer through this slow release mechanism – more like your teen is pacing for a marathon than a sprint to keep him/her protected all day.

5. What are the best Each & Every scents for teens? You can’t go wrong with any scent selection, however our most popular scents for teens are Coconut & Lime, Cedar & Vanilla, Rose & Vanilla, and Lavender & Lemon.

Finding the right deodorant for your teen may take a while, as what’s right for one teen may not work for another. Each & Every deodorants are designed with sensitive skin in mind, contain fewer ingredients, and will keep your teen fresh and odor-free. With this deodorant you can rest assured your teen is using a safe, simple and effective deodorant that will give them the confidence to carry out their daily routine, odor-free. Best of all, we have a money-back guarantee, so if E&E doesn’t work for your teen, we’ll give you your money back. Buy E&E with confidence today!
